Wilfred is a very fun dragon, but he doesn't like baths. As he gets bigger and bigger and BIGGER, this becomes a problem. Nobody can make him take one! Mom and Dad tell Wilfred's little boy that when things get too big for them, they pray! This book is a fun adventure in prayer that shows how God doesn't always answer prayers the way we think he will.
When I got the idea for “When Your Dragon Is Too Big for a Bath” in my dream, it was just that – an idea. I still had to develop the story.
I realized I had the opportunity to teach something a little deeper about prayer in a way kids could understand. I’ve seen a lot of kid’s books and stories about prayer that make God seem like a genie granting wishes. I’ve also seen kids get discouraged with that and say things like, “It doesn’t work! I prayed, and I didn’t get what I wanted!”
I wanted to write a story that would illustrate how God doesn’t always answer prayers the way we think he will or even the way we want, but that he’s still a good, loving Father who hears and answers in the way that is best for us and those around us in the end.
